How to record your screen on iPhone

Recording your iPhone screen is built into iOS and only takes a few seconds to set up. Here's how to start and stop a screen recording.

Enable Screen Recording

If you don't already see the Screen Recording button in Control Centre:

  1. Swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen (or up from the bottom of the screen for older phones) to view Control Centre.
  2. Press and hold until the + Add a Control option appears. Tap.
  3. Find Screen Recording and add it to your included controls.

You only need to do this once.

Start a Screen Recording

  1. Open Control Centre by swiping down from the top-right corner of the screen (or up from the bottom on older iPhones).
  2. Tap the Screen Recording button.
  3. A three-second countdown will begin.
  4. Leave Control Centre and use your iPhone normally while everything on screen is recorded.

Tip

Press and hold the Screen Recording button before starting if you want to include microphone audio.

Stop Recording

You can stop recording in either of these ways:

  • Tap the red recording indicator at the top of the screen and choose Stop.
  • Or open Control Centre again and tap the Screen Recording button.

Your recording is automatically saved to the Photos app.
